My Son Christopher James Hotrum:

August 22, 1979 to December 31, 2006

You came into the world all 8 lbs, 5 oz of wildfire. I cried to know I had another son, just as I had wanted.

My dreams were many for you, happiness, good health, education, freedom. Faith in yourself, security in your world and love of others. My dreams for you came crashing down many times over, but I kept the hope that someday you would be the strong loving young man I knew you could be.

We both made many mistakes on our road of life, but when your life was at the right time, you always took the road back home to the Mom you knew would always be there to walk the walk with you.

The Mom that you knew would still look around the bad, look past the pain and tears and see the second child that came from my body and was so much a part of my soul. The child who at the age of 5 months would drop kick his feet and knocked every wrung from his crib, the child that in all the grown up that he could be, would pour cereal all over the kitchen floor and look up and say "But Momma the box was to big for my bowl". Or take the crackers from a box and then wear the box as a hat, tipping your head back and forth.

The son that would look at me with his heart in his eyes rub my cheek and say "Oh Mommy you're so "fretty", as you never could say pretty. You came to me on a Wednesday morning when the sun was shinning and I knew it would be a great day. Your heart and face lit my world with all the Love only a Mom could have and feel.

You left this world on a Sunday early evening, and left my heart with a void, my soul with a crack, and my life without the love of a child that no one can ever match. It's a pain and void that can't be fixed, and I know for the rest of my life I will be searching for that young man with the bluest of blue eyes, the touch of his hand and the giggle of a child.

My son Christopher James Hotrum, I Love you the most as you're my second born, the one that I was more at ease in raising, the one that I wasn't as afraid of being a Mom to. The one that helped me grow and see that being a Mom to two wouldn't be as scary as I thought it would be.

And for the few short years I got to have you, as 27 years is not a life time by any means, I thank my Maker and you for them. Today I must set your soul free to find the peace that wouldn't come to you in life, but the peace I know you have now.

And I pray that on that Sunday evening, when you passed over, that you felt the love and peace that I only wanted for you for 27 years, 4 months and our Maker knows not enough days. May your soul rest now and forever.

Love to you for now and always. Until we meet again, Your Loving Mom.
