Thomas Battle Goodrich, Sr. was born August 23, 1912 in Marlin, Texas. He was the second oldest of nine children born to Nick and Louise Goodrich, and the oldest son of six boys. He was a 1933 graduate of Texas A&M University. He served as a Camp Commander in Wyoming and Colorado with the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Depression. He was commissioned into the U.S. Army Air Corps after outbreak of WWII. Retired from U.S. Air Force as a Colonel in 1964.
