In October 2002 our Beautiful "Comfort" came into our lives...
In April that year we bought land in the country and knew we might have a problem with field mice, so we looked for a cat in the paper..We found a black "mama" cat with 4 kittens and they let us have the Mama and babies..That Oct "Mama" had another litter and we got this BEAUTIFUL solid grey kitten with GOLDEN EYES!
He was such an agressive eater we had to bottle feed him.(This lasted for 9 months) He once took off the end of his nose with his claw being so agressive with the bottle we had to resort to wrapping a washrag around his body to keep him pinned, in order not to get clawed ourselves when he bottlefed...this was his comfort so the named evolved..
He then decided he loved the outdoors and he was the "ALLEY CAT" of the neighborhood..
We might not see him for weeks on end and then he would come home for a few days (very few)..and then continue his quest for sireing many solid grey kittens with GOLDEN eyes,,
We always kept food, water and shelter in our yard for him...
He would come home beatup, bleeding ears, chest etc and we always grabbed the betadine and sulpher and managed to keep him from ever becoming infected...altho this went on for years..he became so scarred but he was still a LOVING and BEAUTIFUL Baby to us...
Christamas Eve 2011 he came home again and came ino the house and stayed..
He was so thin and severly scarred we decided he could stay in the house..His demeanor never changed...He would sit on the arm of my chair everyday..Still had a BIG appetite...He got along with all our 16 dogs (all rescued) We noticed he was NOT gaining any weight...so we waited a couple of months to see if he would..Today we decided to take him to the vet and the news wasnt good.
He had Feline lukemia and Feline Aids..We were given 2 choices..
Treat a "NO CURE" options, or Euthanize.
He was NEVER going to get better so we chose the later.
he had 10 years of doing his own thing and was happy!
We didnt want any further suffering.
He is buried in our front yard...RIP!
We LOVED you COMFORT!!
