David was my best friend in high school. He drove a dark blue 1972 Mustang Mach I that I would have given my right arm to own!

Sometime in 1978 he married Cyndy Kennedy, and shortly thereafter he joined the US Air Force. Cyndy was already sick with some sort of cancer at the time she and David got married, but her prognosis was supposed to be pretty good as I recall. She had gone over to Texas where David was stationed at the time, and was on her way back to Jacksonville when she died very suddenly.

David was never the same after that point. I know that he loved her dearly, and he never quite got over her loss. In the summer of 1982 I got word that David had drowned while swimming in a barrow pit off Pritchard Rd. I always kind of wondered if when he got into trouble out there in the water, he didn't just give up – in order to be with Cyndy again.

Rest in peace my friend. I can NEVER listen to Marshall Tucker that I don't immediately think of you.
