Jesse E. Botkin, 78, a lifetime resident of Atlanta, died at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln. He had been a patient for a week.

His funeral was at the Christian Church, the Rev. James Shockney officiating.

He was born Feb. 20, 1890, at Atlanta, a son of Abraham Lincoln and Georgia Jones Botkin. He married Wavie Rench June 8, 1926, in Bloomington.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Dick, Chicago; three grandchildren; and a brother, Oliver, Pomona, Calif. A brother, a sister, a half-brother and a half-sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Botkin was a member of the Christian Church and Royal Neighbors of American Lodge, and a charter member of the Atlanta American Legion Post.

He received his nickname from the pink suit he started school in as a child.
