Adam Murray, 85, retired local coal miner, died at 9 o'clock Sunday at his home, 208 North Parkhill street, following several months illness.
Murray moved with his family here twenty years ago from Sparta [Illinois] and worked in the local mines until forced to retire on account of ill health. He was a member of UMWA Local Union No. 1272.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Murray, he is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Harold Sinks, Mrs. Wm Herrall, Mrs. Mrs. Warren McCrary, Mrs. Jesse Cremer, of this city, Mrs. Mable Bearden of Edwardsville [Illinois] and Miss Lillian Murray of St. Louis [Missouri]
The body is lying in state at the family home.
Funeral rites will be observed Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Union Funeral Service chapel with Rev. John E. Attey officiating. Interment will be in Tower Heights cemetery.
