When William James McArron was born on September 12, 1841, in Somerset, Ohio, his father, Samuel, was 25 and his mother, Catherine, was 21. He married Almira Elizabeth MOHLER on March 15, 1868. They had seven children in 25 years. He died on November 16, 1910, in Long Lane, Missouri, at the age of 69, and was buried there.

Served in the Union Army during the Civil War and was present at the Surrender at Appomattox.
