A Pioneer who helped build Borrego Springs


Beverly Hauser Kuhrts, a pioneer who helped build Borrego Springs, died February 8th, 2013 in San Diego surrounded by her family. She was 87.

Originally from Portland, OR, she moved to Palm Springs and then to Borrego Springs in her early 20's. Together with her husband, George J. "Bud" Kuhrts, III, the Burnand and Di Giorgio families, Beverly was associated with the development of many of Borrego Springs' real estate projects and infrastructure including Rams Hill and the De Anza Country Club over the past 50 years. Beverly worked tirelessly for various civic organizations such as the Borrego Youth / Senior Center and Community Association, giving generously of her time to the community.

She is survived by four children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church at 2680 Country Club Rd., Borrego Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made care of the Borrego Youth & Senior Center, Borrego Springs, CA.
