Madison Wallace, of Vermillion, SD passed away Thursday, March 14 in Sioux Falls, SD. We have all been so blessed to have Madison in our lives. Everyone who knew her was touched by her sweet spirit. Our precious Madison graduated way too soon for us but she graduated in life with high honors. She was 16 yrs. old when she jumped into the frozen river to save her little brother. She lived her life on behalf of others, and she died doing the same. Madison was born December 13, 1996 in Orem, UT to Jay and Lara (Knaphus) Wallace. She was currently a sophomore at the Vermillion High School. She is survived by her parents Jay and Lara of Vermillion, three brothers; Corbyn, Micah and Garrett, and two sisters; Annika and Jenevieve. She is also survived by her grandparents Don (Joan) Wallace and Martin (Margaret) Knaphus all of Orem, UT. Funeral services were held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 19th, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 20 Mickleson Dr. in Vermillion with visitation beginning at 5:00 pm at the church. Final funeral rites and burial took place in Orem.

"... Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die..."
