--From The Medford Mail Tribune, 12/27/2007:

Ann Croy, 92, of Ashland, died December 21, 2007, at her home. Ann was born in Milwaukee, Wisc., and attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she majored in physical education. She earned a masters degree in physical therapy at Louisiana State University, and soon after that, served as a First Lieutenant in the Army of the United States during WWII. She was particularly proud of her army service, and spoke often of her stations in North Africa and Marseilles, France.

After the war, she went to music school in New York, N.Y., where she studied songwriting and violin. Several of her songs were brief hits, earning her membership in ASCAP. She continued songwriting into her last years.

She also continued her physical therapy career, working in San Diego, Calif. and Los Angeles, Calif., before retiring in 1990 and moving to the Rogue Valley. Ann attended First Baptist Church in Medford. She was also a regular at the Medford Senior Center. She had lifelong interests in poetry, horses, and music.

Survivors include her daughter, Dawn Lemanne, of Ashland; her son, Daren Croy, of Medford; grandchildren, Marina, Michael, and Amelia Croy, of Medford; and sister, Jean Kleinman, of San Antonio, Texas.

Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Connie Shroeder; and brothers, Harry Croy, and David Croy.

Memorial contributions may be made to Medford Gospel Mission or the Medford Senior Center.

Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary are in care of arrangements.
