Mary (Marigold) Josephine Webb was born to Lee Hampton and Sara Willa (Gatlin) Webb on Sept 3rd, 1890 in Cordele, Dooley County (later changed to Crisp County), Georgia. She was one of eight children which included three girls her mother named after flowers. Mary (her mother always called her Marigold) had two sisters named Violet and Pansy. She also had a sister named Sara Willa and possibly a sister named Kate** (showing in one census [1910] only). She had brothers named John Howard, Robert Leon and Charles Fred. Two days before her 22nd birthday, her father suddenly died[in 1912] at the age of 48. By this time she had married Bonner Bee Brown, whose family was involved in the cotton industry, and they were expecting their first child. Sadly, her family gathered together to bury their beloved father at Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele. Following the birth of their first daughter, Mary, in 1913, they moved in with her mother, renting from her (and assisting her with the family farm) until the mid 1920's, when they moved to Virginia. It was here that their 2nd daughter, Rosalie, was born in 1925. By 1928, the family had relocated to South Carolina, which is where their last child and only son, Bonner Bee, Jr., was born in that year. In 1930, their family had moved in with Bonner's widowed mother, Rosa (Ridenhour) Brown in Cordele, Crisp County, GA. Bonner was now a buyer for the cotton mill. Bonner lived to be 71 yrs. old, passing from this life on Jan 24th, 1960. They had long since moved to Albany in Doughtery County, Georgia, and it was here that he was buried, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, GA. Mary would live on for many years, reaching the age of 94 yrs., and passing from this life on June 24th, 1985. She was interred by her beloved husband, Bonner, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, Georgia. Her daughter, Rosalie, who had married Eugene R. Clark, Jr., the future mayor of Albany, Georgia, passed away in 2003 and is buried at Oakview Cemetery in Albany. She was a daughter who would make any mother, especially Mary, proud. May they all Rest peacefully.
**I've not been able to learn what happened to Kate Webb, whom I believe to be a twin of Violet, both of them being born in 1905.

Mary was my father's paternal aunt. Robert Leon Webb, Sr. was my grandfather.
