Information obtained from different familiy members and DAR.
Maria Catharina Miller was American, born in Frederick, Washington County, Pennsylvania on Dec 19, 1728 to Thomas Miller and Margaret (Wallace) Miller. Margaret Wallace had been born in Ireland in 1693, immigrated to America, married Thomas Miller and died in Logansville, Morris County, New Jersey in 1785. Margaret (Wallace) Miller's father was Richard Wallace of Ireland. Her mother's name is unknown. Maria Catharina MIller had four brothers, named Isaac, John, James and Thomas.
Maria and George were married on Nov 19, 1749 at Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In 1751, they moved to Frederick, Maryland.
They were blessed with ten children as follows:
George (Peter), b.Dec 22, 1751
George Peter, b.June 3, 1754, a twin
Maria Anna, b.June 3, 1754, a twin, m.Francis Mantz
Christopher Frederick, b.Dec 19, 1756
Catherine, b.Feb 20, 1759
Margreta Peggy, b.May 29, 1762, m.Wilhelm Carl Gross 1st and m.John Slunger 2nd
Peter Frederick, b.1763
Johannes "John", b.Jan 10, 1765
Phillipine "Phebe", b.Oct 29, 1767 and
Daniel, b.Apr 10, 1772
The family moved to Maidencreek, Berks County, Pensylvania in 1790, following George Frederick's involvement in the Revolutionary War. The family had a strong Lutheran faith as George Frederick had had to leave Germany due to his religious beliefs. There had been religious persecution since 1713 in Germany and the Burckhardts had left in 1749. DAR records state that George died on Aug 10, 1805, so his date of death is in dispute, but his remains were buried at Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Frederick, Maryland. Maria Catharina passed from this life either Mar 22 or Apr 3, 1806. I assume she died on Mar 22, 1806 in Pennsylvania and was buried next to her husband on Apr 3rd, 1806 at Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland. As of this writing, I have not seen either headstone. I have been informed that when the church built an addition, it was built over the graves and tombstones and only 44 remain, their photos already having been posted. I would like to thank Barbara and Dorinda for the information regarding this memorial. With All Sincerity, Kathie L.Webb Blair,

Maria Catharina (Miller) Burckhardt was my 5X great grandmother, responsible for the 1st generation of American Burckhardts/Burkhardts/Burkharts. My linage is as follows:
Kathie Lynn (Webb) Blair, b.1951> Patricia J.[Taylor] Webb, b.1924> Pearl Laura [Baker] Taylor, b.1895> Nellie Olivia [Burkhart] Royce Baker Hall, b.1859> Leander Columbus Burkhart, b.1823> John Burkhart, b.1787> George (Peter) Burckhardt, b.1751> son of Maria Catharina (Miller) Burchkhart, b.1728, and George Frederick Burckhardt, b.1725.
I just corrected my grandmother's Date Of Birth. Pearl Laura Baker was b.Mar 2, 1895 and I can't believe that I messed up her year of birth! 1905 is in error; she was b.1895 and I just corrected it. It just goes to show I'm only human, known for making boo boo's. Sorry, my dear Grandmother.
