On 28 Dec 1886, Bettie Chapman married Lucian Nathaniel Jackman, eldest son of William Woodson Jackman, and Arrania Basham of Barren County. Bettie and L.N. were each 18 years old when they wed. At Bettie's death following the birth of her last child, Allen, she was survived by 9 children. Cause of death: tuberculosis. She was 37yo. In less than a year, baby Allen also died of tuberculosis.

OBITUARY:
Mrs Bettie Chapman Jackman, wife of Mr Lucian N Jackman, died at her home in the Oil City country Saturday night of consumption after a lingering illness. She was a daughter of Mr John Chapman, and was a most excellent Christian woman. She is survived by a husband and several small children. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at one o'clock by Eider John Page, after which the remains were interred in the Chapman family burying grounds.
