After leaving the USAF, Don and DeJon moved to the Caribbean, where Don became Chief Pilot and Check Airman for commuter airline Easter Metro Express. Eastern Metro was based in the Virgin Islands, but also flew to various locations in Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands. When Eastern Airlines shut down, Metro became Sunaire and continued to fly.
Don was my chief pilot and my check airman when I first joined the airline in 1988 and again when I upgraded to captain. He was a great pilot and a wonderful man. He is truly missed.
