Remmer Oltman, living one mile east of Benson, died Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Mr. Oltman was born September 10, 1865, near Washburn and had spent the greater part of his life in Greene Township. Three years were spent in Indiana from where he returned in 1925. After spending two months in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Peters, he again took up farming and moved to the home where he passed away.
In the year 1886 he was united in marriage to Miss Fannie Kalkwarf at Minonk. The union was blessed with six children, Henry, John and Frank of Benson, Halley of Mitchel, S.D., Mrs. Fred Sheffort [sic] of Bloomington and Mrs. Jessie Peters of Benson. These children, together with 21 grandchildren, three brothers, Henry, Halley and John, and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Woltzen, mourn the death of Mr. Oltman.
During his stay in Indiana the deceased underwent an operation; however, the operation was no cure against the terrible disease of cancer from which he had suffered about four and one-half years. For the past three weeks he had been bedfast. He reached the age of 62 years, 10 months and 5 days.
Funeral services were conducted yesterday at St. Peter's Lutheran church, with Rev. O. H. Behrens officiating.
