Fannie Overtaker was born to John Arnold Overtaker and Julia Walker.
SIBLINGS: Ruth Margaret "Maggie" (Overtaker) Kemp and Emma Carnell (Overtaker) Gragg.
Half-Siblings: James Daniel Overtaker (1888-1902), Nellie Mae Overtaker (1890-1959) from her father. Nora McClenathan (1904- ), Allen McClenathan (1906-1914) and Lida (McClenathan) Reeves (1907-1928) from her mother.
MOTHER of 9
8 children with Jesse James Shanks (Fannie and Jesse were married in Ft Smith, Arkansas) until his death in 1933.
They had 4 sons (Gano, James "Babe", John and Bob) & 4 daughters (Lahoma "Tommie", baby Vera, Pauline, and Lillian "Ruth".
1 Daughter (Clemer "Louise") with Evit Seaton (Fannie and Evit were married in Ft Smith, Arkansas) for 30 yrs until his death in 1968.
She had 17 grandchildren: Robert, Sharon, Jo Anne, Rhonda, Don, Bill, Bobby, Kenny, Vicki, Jimmy, Timmy, Bill, Jerry, Ron, Bob, Margaret and Barbara.
She was preceeded in death by both husbands; 4 children, Gano, Pauline, James "Babe" and Vera; 1 Sister, Emma Carnell (Overtaker) Gragg (1902-1967) and 1 grandson Timmy Mullins (1960-1962).
Fannie is Survived by 5 children: John, Lahoma "Tommie", Bob, Lillian "Ruth" and Clemer "Louise". 1 sister, Ruth Margaret "Maggie" (Overtaker) Kemp (1899-1986).
Fannie was enrolled in 1902 on the Cherokee Dawes Indian Roll by her father, who was cherokee. Her mother died when Fannie was around 14 yrs old. Fannie, Emma and Maggie were sent to live with their Uncle Bob Lee & Family. Grandma ran away from the Lee's and married Jesse Shanks as the story was told to me by Aunt Ruth.
GrandMa died of Cancer.
