Married on June 18, 1935 in Parsons, Kansas.
They had reached their 58th wedding anniversary the day before Ed passed away.

The family moved to Vinita, Oklahoma in 1957, where they owned a Dari-Delite. In 1961 they purchased the Dari-O in Bentonville, Ark., and operated it until their retirement in 1977. In 1978, they returned to Erie. Prior to purchasing the Dari-Delite he was a butcher in Parsons, KS at the grocery store.

Ed and Mary were volunteers for Meals on Wheels and the Senior Center while in Erie, KS. Ed painted scenes on windows around town on holidays for community service. He painted all his window printing and scenes for his own business.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, Billie Owens (1923).

Ed is survived by his wife, Mary; and 6 children & spouses, Mary Catherine (Chuck), Peg (Diz), Tom (Sherron), Nancy (Jimmie), Jim (April), Fred (Rhonda); Sister, Mandy and husband Leonard "Buzz" Franse; Sister Kitty and husband Jim Schildgen; Brother, Ben and wife Ruth (Dolan) Owens.
