• (1) Katie C Newell (1867-1898). Married Feb 15, 1895. Katie died 3 yrs after marriage in 1898 and no children were born. Fred had a braided key fob made out of Katie's long hair. After she died he had his wedding ring attached to it. Years later, after his wife Fannie died, he gave it to their daughter Mary. She kept it and cherished it for years. Later in her years, she gave it to her son, Fred to keep and cherish as she did.
• (2) Fannie Harriett (Aylsworth) Newell. Married on June 14, 1899 in Juniata, Nebraska. The woman he fell in love with, after losing Katie. Fred & Fannie had 3 children and celebrated 42 yrs of marriage the year she died.
