She was the first American women's bodybuilding champion in 1980 and was a finalist in the World Professional Bodybuilding Championship in 1981. She held the Miss Tampa and Northwest Florida bodybuilding titles. She was a graduate of the University of South Florida, where she as a captain of the women's rugby team. She was a graduate of Adirondack Southern Academy. Survi vors include two sisters, Leigh Combes Phillips, Jackson Heights, N.Y., and Gail Combes Allen, Tobyhanna, Pa.; and two brothers, Jeffrey Burleigh Combes, Long Beach, N.Y., and Steven Burleigh Combes, St. Augustine.
