He was born in Charlevoix, Michigan, to Alfred and Susanne (Phlager) Miller. He married Betty Rink. She died in 1972. On May 31, 1987, he married Virginia Knoll. She died March 14, 2003.
Mr. Miller, a city employee, lived in Goshen from 1925 to 2004. He was a member of the First Church of God and the VFW.
He is survived by a daughter, Joan (Lyle) Larson of Omaha, Nebraska; a son, Larry Miller of Abilene, Kansas; a step-daughter, Janet (Marvin) Hughey of Mishawaka, Indiana; a step-son, Donald E. Elliot of Henderson, Nevada; ten grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Betty and Virginia, a grandson, Kelly Miller and a granddaughter, Pam Larson; five sisters, Bernice McDonald, Helen McKinstra, Eloise Fry, Winifred May (Miller) Chrispyn (b. 22 Nov 1924 d. 7 Feb 1999) and Sylvia Linsley; and two brothers, Carlyle J. Miller and Bernard Miller.

Bud, as he was called, was the son of Alfred Miller and Susanna Phlager/Flager. He was in the military. He received two purple hearts. He also worked for the city of Goshen for many years.
Bud married married three times. His first wife was Miss Betty Jean Rink* (daughter of Ray Orville Rink and Ethel Oleto Chrisman) on 21 Jul 1945 in Goshen, Elkhart, Indiana.

Bud remarried to a Mrs. Gladys Barbara Lantz Yoder (daughter of Ezra P Lantz and Ina M. Troyer) on 03 Feb 1947 in Goshen, Elkhart, Indiana.

Bud married a third time on 31 May 1987 to Mrs. Virginia Fosten Chupp Elliott Leatherman (daughter of the late Jacob S. Chupp and Wanda Irene Toliver). Virginia had 2 adult children, Donald Ernest and Janet Ann, by her first husband. This was Virginia's fourth marriage. They had a much beloved dog named Scooter who was with them for many years. After Scooter died, they adopted another dog named Squeaky. Bud loved working in his tool shop which he kept in immaculate condition. He also loved watching old Westerns. Gene Autry was his favorite actor. Bud loved his children, grandchildren, step children and step-grandchildren. He is missed. Bud and Virginia are buried together in Violett Cemetery.
