Mary Elizabeth King was born on October 20, 1888 in Carroll County, Georgia to Joseph B. King and his wife Susan Clay King. She was one of ten siblings.

On December 24, 1905, she married Marion Alton Barrow in Carroll County, Georgia. They had four children: Reedie Othel Barrow, Ruby Barrow who died just before her 5th birthday of Whooping Cough, Doris Novalene Barrow, and [still living daughter]. Husband Marion Barrow died in 1944 of Stomach Cancer.

On November 10, 1951, she married Henry Frank Martin in Carroll County, GA. Frank died in 1968.

After the death of her second husband, she lived in a trailer that was next door to her youngest daughter. In her later years, she became bedridden, and she moved in with her youngest [still living] daughter and son-in-law James Bernard "J.B." Moore. They were wonderful caretakers to Mama Martin until her death.

She was my great-grandmother, and I remember her as a soft-spoken, gentle woman who lived her Christian beliefs every day of her life. She was devoted to her family and friends, and she was always there in times of need.

The cause of death listed on her death certificate was Congestive Heart Failure, Pneumonia, and Atherosclerosis. She was buried in Antioch Cemetery in Haralson County, Georgia and rests beside her first husband.
