Martha was an artist, which she began demonstrating as soon as she could hold a crayon. She painted in oils (her plein air work was especially good), and also worked as a graphic artist, illustrator, and art editor.
She married in July of 1989, and gave birth to a daughter, her only child, about 3 years later.
She died of brain cancer, about 18 months after diagnosis.
