"Jesus, Our Father was born December 25th and our dad went to heaven on the 26th."

Santos O. Salinas " Tana", age 70, left this earth as his usual happy self. He joked and laughed happily as he took his last and final breaths only moments before he gracefully walked away hand in hand with our Lord Jesus Christ on Dec. 26, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 26, 1941, to Jesus Salinas and Isabel Hernandez in San Marcos TX. He came from San Marcos to Marsing, ID as a young boy in 1952 and migrated back and forth from TX to ID until 1964 where he made his life in Idaho after meeting his soul mate, Queen and future wife whom he married on July 15, 1965, the love of his life Dora Garza his wife of 46 yrs. Between them they raised 11 strong, loving, family oriented children, 6 boys and 5 girls.

Santos, Dora and daughter Monica Salinas have blessed the St. Paul's Catholic Perish with their musical talents and angelic voices for many years.

He enjoyed many activities which included but were not limited to spending time with his family, going on road trips, fishing, listening to good music "oldies but goodies", watching his grandkids play, hanging out with his brothers and cruisin' the country with his boys, but most importantly his daily routine waking up early, waiting for Eric to take him to breakfast or just find out the next project of the day, or at times spontaneously waking up early and driving himself to Eric's house and waking him up to get the day started with a smile on their faces.

He always had a beautiful smile on his face and had such a special way about him that always left a lasting impression on everyone he met, he was God's gift to everyone in his life. He was truly God's angel on earth and will be forever missed.

He is survived by his loving wife Dora Salinas, children Salvador (Frances) Villegas, Danny (Lupe) Villegas; Santos Salinas Jr., Teresa (Freddy) Rogers; Carol (Roxanne) Salinas; Sandra Salinas, Dora Salinas (Moises) Ramirez; Santos (Alma) Salinas; Monica Salinas; Eric (Ana) Salinas, Miguel Villegas "Salinas" and 40 grandchildren whom looked up to him as their father, and 16 great-grandchildren, 5 brothers Rosaleo, Cleofas, Frank, Clemente, Ignacio and 2 sisters Margarita Martinez and Suzy Salinas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Salinas, his mother, Isabel Hernandez, his stepmother, Victoria Salinas, his brothers, Juan, Jesus, Domingo & Victor and sister, Nicholasa, brother-in-law and life long friend, Gilberto Longoria, and several nieces and nephews.

We love you Daddy. You will be forever missed yet you will always be in our hearts and will NEVER be forgotten. You were and always will be our hero, the best father ever known. Love always and forever, Your Loving Wife and all your Children.

Services will be as follows: Rosary will be Thurs., Dec. 29, 2011, 8 PM and funeral services Fri., Dec. 30 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Nampa. Burial will follow after service at Hillcrest Cemetery, in Caldwell.
