"Junior" Van Etten, 78 years of Plano, IL died Friday, August 13, 2004 at his residence. He was born January 8, 1926 in Oswego, IL, the son of the late Harold Z. and Susan C. nee Lindley Van Etten. He served his country honorably with the USMC seeing action in Okinawa. Prior to his retirement in 1991 he was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Aurora, IL for 27 years. He had also worked for many years as a deputy for the Kendall County Sheriff's Department and at Impact Die Co. in Sandwich, IL. Over the years he was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, computer buff and a friend to all at the coffee shop. He is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Steven) Marlatt of Sterling, IL, Carolyn Van Etten of Mendota, IL, two sons Larry Van Etten of DeKalb, IL, Michael (Sheryl) Van Etten of Plano, IL, ten grandchildren Michael and Christopher Browning, Daniel Marlatt, Patrick Van Etten, Amanda and Kyle Batchelor, Catherine Van Etten-Kahl, John Kahl, Jennifer and Crystal Van Etten, seven great grandchildren Erin, Katie, Andrew, Ian, Cody, Alex and Haley, three sisters Mary Belle Lucas of Sandwich, IL, Dorothy Seidelman of Osseo, WI, Nancy Weaver of New Auburn, WI, Enid (William) Haacker of East Brunswick, NJ, a brother Warren (Joyce) Van Etten of Grant, AL, daughter-in-law Ellen (Brian) Kahl of Plano, IL, son-in-law Mike Batchelor of Somonauk, IL, sister-in-law Shirley Webster of Vernon Hills, IL and also by several nieces/nephews. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jacqueline Van Etten, son Harry Van Etten and a brother Robert Van Etten. Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 15, 2004 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the McKEOWN-DUNN FUNERAL HOME, LTD & CREMATION SERVICES at 210 S. Madison St. in Oswego, IL. Cremation will be accorded on the wishes of the family followed by graveside services with military honors by the USMC on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL.
