Edison P. Gerber, 93, of Walnut Creek, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at 4:55 p.m., at Joel Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg following a period of declining health.

Born December 7, 1919, in Walnut Creek Township, he was the son of the late Lester and Selma (Hershberger) Gerber.

He retired from the Belden Brick Company at Sugarcreek after 29 years and hauled milk in the Trail area.

Edison was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan.

He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Hershberger, whom he married May 30, 1941. Also surviving are two children, Berdene (Ellis) Miller of Sarasota, Fla., and Brandon (Janet) Gerber of Clearwater, Fla.; three grandchildren, Heather (Kenny) Dotson, Evan Carter and Austin Gerber; two sisters, Lois (Bill) Shell of Dover, and Neva (Carl) Grosenbacher of New Philadelphia; and nieces and nephews.

Committal services will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 10 a.m., in Walnut Creek Mennonite Cemetery, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church, with Pastor Don Hamsher officiating.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County at 2525 Back Orville Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
