WALNUT CREEK, Ohio — Russell L. Mast, 92, passed away Thursday (Oct. 4, 2007) at Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek, Ohio.

He was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Walnut Creek, Ohio, to William R. and Beulah Wetrich Mast. On Aug. 23, 1939, he married Alma Hilty. She survives at home.

He was a retired pastor in the Mennonite Church, having served in Pennsylvania, Ohio, South Dakota, Kansas and Nebraska. Upon his retirement, he was interim pastor for several churches in Ohio. He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Walnut Creek.

Survivors include: sons, Thomas Mast of Wooster, Ohio, and James and Patricia Mast of Wisconsin; a brother, Gerald and Cheryl Mast of Minnesota; a sister, Susan Mast of Brecksville, Ohio; grandsons, Todd, Tyler and Travis Mast; and a great-granddaughter, Madalynn Mast.

Visitation will be Monday at St. John's United Church of Christ in Walnut Creek. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
