Joyce M. Mast, 83, formerly of Walnut Creek, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Walnut Creek with Dr. Mark Behrendt officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 3-7 p.m. at Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.

She was born May 24, 1920, in Clark, Holmes County, to Harvey and Opal (Mullet) Bretzius and married Herman R. Mast on June 21, 1943. He died June 16, 1998.
She retired from Mast Leather in Walnut Creek and had worked at Walnut Creek School in the cafeteria.
She was an active member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Walnut Creek. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and visiting with family and friends.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth R. and Nancy Mast of Apple Creek and Bob and Marla Mast of Smithville; five grandchildren, Julie (Joel) Christopher and Bryan Mast, both of Smithville, Jodie Mast of Canal Fulton, Stacy Mast of Orrville, Craig (Amy) Mast of Apple Creek; five great-grandchildren, Brett and Katelyn Orr, Caleb Mast, Tony (Crystal) Christopher, Cortney Christopher; a great-great-grandson, Alex Christopher; and a sister, Shirley Brown of Berlin.
In addition to her parents and husband, a daughter, Connie Mast, died Nov. 11, 1995.
