NOTE: Military Stone is engraved Christian DURLAR instead of DURLER.

Per Village of Millersburg Office Marty Grice, 330-674-1886, Christian Durler is noted in the book as being interred 9/22/1891, Company F 3rd OH Infantry Regular Army, Mexican War. Grave description in Soldier's Lot is Section A Lot 12. Interment Book also notes died at age 66 which would agree with the military and census records indicating he was born around 1825 in Switzerland.

NOTE: There is another Christian Durler in Ohio during this same time period. In Williams County, Christian Durler b-1818 PA, married to Mary Hemminger in Wood County, d-before Sep 1890 when his wife made a Widow's Pension Claim. The Williams County Christian Durler served in Company ? 10th Regiment. This note hopefully will eliminate any confusion for future researchers.

Per email 5/26/2011 from Marty Grice: Christian Durler along with 5 other old soldiers now have stones provided by a local organization headed by Forrest Chanay of Killbuck, OH. A special thanks to Forrest and all who worked on this project to provide Stones for our ancestors.

OTHER INFO: It may just be a coincidence, but Alexander Durler and his wife Catharine Babcock Durler are buried in Section A 1/2 Lot 12 in close proximity to Christian's grave. Alexander Durler's Death Certificate notes that Harvey Durler is his father...and therefore we do not believe Christian had any known children...however, possibly he is the uncle to Alexander. We will continue to look for the parentage of Christian Durler...hoping to locate an obituary or death notice from 1891 that would provide some information...STILL LOOKING. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO HELP!!!!

****** END OF WHAT WE KNOW********

A special thanks to Marty Grice who located the burial of Christian Durler as well as other members of his family and then went to the cemetery to provide photo's for the memorials, which I've posted and captioned with credit to her.

Would appreciate any additional information about Christian Durler and his family. This is not my direct family, but hoping to eventually find a connection since my DURLER Family came from Germany through Ohio and on to Kansas.
