Last Saturday afternoon, the remains of A. Louis Oder, who died at the sanitarium in Olney on Thursday were conveyed to this place where they were laid to rest by the side of his companion who preceded him a few years ago. (Clay City Advocate)

The Olney Daily Mail, referring to Mr. Oder’s death, says he was one of the most widely known men in this section of Illinois, and that for years he was a leading stock-buyer through out all of this country.

He was born in Prussia, Germany in 1847. His grandfather was a member of one of Napoleon’s selected regiments in Spain and Russia.. Later, the grandfather fought against Napoleon at Waterloo. The deceased’s father, Frederick Oder was a soldier of the Prussian army. Two sisters and a brother were left in Germany when he came to America in 1868. The brother, Carl Herman was killed while fighting for the Kaiser.

Mr. Oder was survived by a son, Carl, of Fairfield and two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Curtwright and Mrs. Clara Haden.

One of his daughters, wife of Delbert Holman, died in Louisville a few years ago.
