Richard Eugene "Rick" Peterson, 47, of Carbondale, IL formerly of Centralia died October 7, 2005 in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Mr. Peterson was born January 26, 1958 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Donald William and Mary Garrison Peterson. He married Cheryl Thomas in June of 1984 and they later divorced.

He had been in sales and was a sales financial loan officer in the states of Illinois, Texas and Florida. He was currently a student at Southern Illinois University doing post graduate work.

He grew up in Centralia, was a graduate of Centralia High School, and had earned a BS degree from SIU. He loved to go fishing, boating, and riding his bicycle.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Mary and Claren Hosselton; sons, Skyler, Dustin, and Dexter Peterson and former wife Cheryl; a sister Sherry Lence; a half-brother, Lee Hosselton; and two half-sisters, Nancy Hanes and Karen Stienstra.

Preceding him in death was his father, Donald Peterson.

Funeral services were held at Summers Kistler Funeral Home with burial in Clay City Cemetery.
