Services for John Robert Hall, 66, of Jefferson, will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Linden. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery. Arrangements are by Haggard Funeral Home. Mr. Hall was born August 26, 1947, in Jefferson, and died January 7, 2014, in Longview. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today, January 9, 2014, at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mr. John Hall, 66, of Jefferson, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 10, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Linden, Texas, with Rev. Mark Markle and Bro. Phil Starrett officiating. Interment will follow at Prospect Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Thursday evening at Haggard Funeral Home in Jefferson.

John was born on August 26, 1947 in Jefferson, Texas to Floyd and Norma Smith Hall. He attended Jefferson High School, graduating in 1965, Texarkana College and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

John worked construction for 45 years as a crane operator, most recently for Peterson Beckner Industries of Houston. His love of cooking led him to own and operate the Galley Restaurant in Jefferson for several years.

After being diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 50, he bought his first Harley-Davidson, which quickly became one of his greatest passions. John shared his passion for Harleys, sports and music with everyone around him, making many friends along the way. After beating the odds for 16 years, he passed away on January 7, 2014.

John is survived by his wife, three children, four grandchildren, his sister, and three brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Don Hall.

Pallbearers will be 11 in total. Honorary pallbearers are employees of Peterson Beckner Industries, and 5 others.

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Lewis Duncan, friend and physician. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 5841 US 59 N., Jefferson, TX. 75657.
