FRONZELL MATHIS SR. was the son of Willie Lou Davis and Elwee Mathis.

"Fronzell Mathis Sr., 81, of Longview, Texas, formerly of Avinger, Texas, died Friday, January 20, 2012, in a local nursing home.

Mr. Mathis was born June 25, 1930, in Cass County, Texas. He was an employee of Lone Star Steel and a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Avinger, Texas. He was preceded in death by five children, Vivian Traylor, Rufus Mathis, Inetta Hopkins-Mathis, Tronderlyn Robinson and Fronzell Mathis Jr. Survivors include four children, Robert Mathis and Elaine Harris, both of Dallas, Sherea Clark, of Marshall, Texas and Carolyn Chism, of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Edward Minneweather, of Jackson, Mississippi; one sister, Eloise Hawthorne, of Beaumont, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, Ore City, Texas, with Dr. Oney D. Fitzpatrick Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home."
