John D. Smith, 78, Clay City, died in his home at 7 a.m. today.
Arrangements will be announced later by the Cardascio Funeral Home in Clay City.
Mr. Smith was born in Clay County Oct. 11, 1903.
He married Nell H. Stock Nov. 22, 1936 in Tolona and she survives.
He was a retired pipe fitter from Rantoul Air Base.
Other survivors include two step-sons, Harvey L. Stock, and Wm. H. Stock, both of Clay City; a sister, Mrs. Clara Brown, Chrisman; six step-grandchildren; and 10 great-step-grandchildren.
