Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Trevor Littleton officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 6-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born March 18, 1915, in Barberton and was the daughter of John and Edna (Craig) Barnhart. On Sept. 16, 1935, she married Richard E. Kirkendall and he preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1977.
She and her husband owned and operated Millersburg Cleaners for 43 years and Mary worked 12 years for Millersburg McDonald's, retiring in 1999.
Surviving is a daughter, Jill Kirkendall-Smith of Cuyahoga Falls; two granddaughters, Janelle Smith of Asheville, N.C., and Jenette Smith of Muncie, Ind.; four sisters-in-law, Martha Barnhart, Margaret Barnhart, Ethel Barnhart, and Maxine Barnhart, all of Millersburg; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her companion pet dog, Bailey.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James L. Smith, five sisters, Dorothy Purdy, Pauline Mast, Martha Shrock and Marguerite Schie, an infant sister, Ella Barnhart, and four brothers, Chuck Barnhart, Olus Barnhart, Dwight Barnhart and Leland Barnhart.
