Enlisted, October 10, 1912, in Troop A, Squadron A Cavalry, New York City. He mustered-in for service on the Mexican border with Troop A, Squadron A Cavalry, June 30, 1916. Squadron A Cavalry was stationed at Camp McAllen, Texas, with the 6th New York Division ( later to be the 27th Division ). Troop A, Squadron A Cavalry returned from the border, December 23, 1916, and mustered-out of border service, December 28, 1916, New York City.

World War 1, attended Officers Training Corps, at Plattsburg Barracks, NY ( unknown if he was commissioned ).
