GEORGE T. LYONS

George T. Lyons, 90, 605 S. Clay, a retired major league baseball player, died Aug. 12 at Nevada City Hospital.

Born Jan. 25, 1891, in Bible Grove, Ill., he was the son of John H. and Nellie Moore Lyons. He was married April 22, 1929, in Nashville, Tenn., to Leota A. Vilott. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of World War I Veterans Barracks 315.

Survivors include: his wife, Leota, of the home; a son, G. T. Lyons, Columbia; two daughters, Zona Nell Gates, Kansas City, and Sally Darnell, Raytown, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ferry Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Cox officiating. Interment will be in Newton Burial Park.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
