Mildred Clara Senff was born 28 Jun 1915 in Wooster, Wayne, OH to Philip Dealy Senff and Clara Rosan Ruegsegger. Her father was a Pharmacist and part owner of the S. H. Boyd Drug Store in Wooster. She graduated from the College of Wooster in 1937, married Dr. Owen Patterson on 11 Jun 1940. In 1946, after his return from the service in Burma and India during World War II, Mildred and her husband moved to Millersburg, OH to establish Dr. Patterson's Medical practice.

Mildred was extensively involved in many community activities in Millersburg. She was one of the first members of a Board of Deacons formed in the Presbyterian Church. She also served as President of the Missionary Group in the church and as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of Sorosis Club, charter member of Pomerene Hospital Auxilliary (Historian) and Holmes County AAUW. Mildred was a Cub Scout and a Brownie Leader, and a Rainbow Mother advisor. In the schools, she served as a room mother and created many of the Millersburg High School dance decorations. She was certified by the Library of Congress as a braillist, was a 50-year member of Easter Star, and a member of Holmes County Historical Society.

Both Mildred and Dr. Patterson were skilled Bridge players and frequently played cards with their friends in Millersburg and California, where they spent the winter months for many years. Mildred was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling in the U.S., Europe, and the Caribbean with Dr. Patterson. She was a gifted knitter, seamstress and crossword player and was considered by many to be a consummate craftsperson.

Mildred Senff Patterson, age 93, died 23 Feb 2009 at Walnut Hills Retirement Home, Walnut Creek, Ohio.

Owen, Mildreds husband of 66 years, died in 2006. She is survived by children, Mary Beth (Jim) Shonk of Connecticut and Florida, Lee (John) Stuart of California, Dr. John (Judy) Patterson of Montana, and Susan (Mike) Kenyon of Massachusetts and New Hampshire; grandchildren, Kristine Shonk Pfeiffer, Jameson Shonk, Michael Stuart, Katherine Kenyon Henderson, Allison Kenyon Trombly, Timothy Patterson, Matthew Patterson and Christopher Kenyon; and great-grandchildren, Dylan and Ryan Pfeifer. Jay Baxter Henderson. In addition to her husband, grandsons, Jeffrey Shonk and Patrick Stuart, a sister (Nellie Senff Weimer) and four brothers, (Karl Senff--Ralph Senff--George Senff--Donald Senff)preceded Mildred in death.

A Memorial Service was held at Millersburg United Presbyterian Church on 28 Feb. 2009. Contributions were made to the Holmes County Educational Foundation, directed to the Dr. Owen and Mildred Patterson Scolarship Fund, in support of advanced education and training.
