From the St. Paul Republican, January 4, 1906, Page 8, Elba News Column, transcribed by Linda Berney:

Died - At the home of Mrs. Martin Deleski on Thursday, December 28, Mrs. Joseph Deleski, after a brief illness from scarlet fever.

A few hours later her 6-year-old son also died and both were interred in the Catholic cemetery Friday.

Again on Saturday night death visited the family and another child died from the same disease. His remains were laid to rest alongside the mother and brother Sunday morning.

About fifteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Deleski left here and went west, locating in the state of Washington, where they made their home until recently, when they decided to return to this place. They arrived here Friday, December 22, and on Monday the whole family, consisting of father, mother and eight children, were taken sick. All that medical aid could do was done, but before the ravages of the awful disease could be checked it had gathered three to their last resting place.

Mrs. Deleski was about 40 years of age and the two children about 6 and 2 respectively. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in their hour of affliction.

Birth date taken from 1900 census. Felix's age (7) does not agree with obit (age 2) but since all 8 children are accounted for, it is assumed the age reported in the paper was in error. Additional or correcting information is always appreciated.
