Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen's Church, Streator. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Streator. Full military rites will be conducted by members of Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
Born June 23, 1924, in Wenona, he was the son of Anthony and Mary (Carbone) Canale. He married Thellis Schofield on Feb. 18, 1950, at St. Stephen's Church. She survives in Streator.
He is also survived by two daughters, Lana (Jack) Segovich of Streator and Beverly (Barry) Bergman of Carlock; grandchildren, Kelly Segovich of Streator and Joe Segovich of Bloomington; and one brother, Frank (Phyllis) Canale of Ransom.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
He attended Wenona grade schools and Dwight High School. He lived in Wenona and Dwight as a youth and moved to Streator after serving in the military. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked for many years for Owens-Illinois Glass Company in the maintenance department until his retirement. He was a former member of the Eagles and also belonged to the Knights of Columbus, VFW and the Golden Emblem Club.
Leo loved and adored his family and his family cherished him every day of his life. He will be forever in our hearts.
