Born May 10, 1915, in Edgar, Neb., he was raised and educated in Nebraska and moved to the Pacific Northwest when he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp.
In 1940, he married LaVonne Robbins. During World War II he served with the infantry and attained the rank of second lieutenant. He had worked in the grocery business.
Survivors include his wife, Lavonne Allen of Yakima three sons, Dr John Allen and Andy Allen both of Orlando, Fla., and Tom Allen of Yakima; a daughter, Kathy Puckett of Yakima; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
