OBITUARY 1936

Wm. H. Baumgarten was born in the town of Westfield, Sauk county, Wisconsin on March 6, 1876 In infancy he was baptized in Zion Ev. Lutheran church of Westfield, and was later confirmed.

On November 14, 1902 he was unitd in marriage with Miss Emma Stolte. This union was blessed with nine children; Herbert, Arthur, who preceded his father in death when nine years old, Paul, who died in infancy, Martin, Otto, Edmund, William III, Irvin and Melvin.

Immediately after his marriage, Mr. Baumgarten purchased the farm a mile and a half northwest of Loganville, where he remained until death called him.

About a year and a half ago Mr. Baumgarten began to fail in health. Medical aid proved of no avail. On Wednesday, July 8, at 12:30 o'clock he passed away.

Since his marriage he was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran church. For 15 years he was a member of the school board.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mrs. Wm. Baumgarten, Herbert, town of Westfield, Martin, town of Freedom, Otto, town of Reedsburg, Edmund, William, Irvin and Melvin still at home, his mother, Mrs. Dora Baumgarten, one brother, Albert, town of Reedsburg, three sisters, Mrs. John Elfers of Loganville, Mrs. Julius Elfers of Reedsburg, Mrs. Herman Licht, town of Freedom, six grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He attained the age of 60 years, 4 months and 3 days.

Funeral services were held from his home Saturday, July 11, at 1:30 o'clock and 2:00 o'clock from the St. Peter's Lutheran church at Loganville, conducted by Rev. C Stubenvoll. Those who acted as pallbearers were, Aug. Thies, Henry Thies, Carl Geffert, Aug. Luetkens, F.C. Luetkens and Paul Gluth. Flower girls were Mrs. Ed Elfers and Mrs. Phillip Thieding. Interment was in the church cemetery.
