Peter Mansfield was a teen Hungarian freedom fighter, one of many who were caught, tried and sentenced to death for their part in the 1956 revolution. "The government," writes Anna Porter in Canada's Globe and Mail, ("It haunts us still," Oct. 14, 2006.), "not wishing to appear brutal in case the rest of the world was watching (it wasn't), waited until Peter Mansfield turned 18 before they carried out the sentence."

He is buried in the notorious Plot 301 of the Rakoskereszturi cemetery in Budapest, the same section where many of the Soviets' victims of the uprising were buried. He was killed in either 1958 or 1959.
