Twenty-One years old at the time of his death, Jason got into a fight with Lock Haven University Football players who allegedly owed him money. When he fled down an alley, he was beaten unconscious, then placed in the trunk of a car and driven to near the Loganton exit of Interstate 80. At that time, his abductor attempted to shoot him, but when the gun misfired he was pistol-whipped and beaten with a tree branch and left to die in the sub-zero temperatures. In 2001, acting upon Pennyslvania warrents, police in Clyo, GA arrested his alleged killer, Fabian Smart. He was convicted in October 2004 and sentenced to life in prison. He is appealing. His cousin & accomplice, Willie Williams is currently in custody at the Lycoming County Prison in Williamsport, PA awaiting trial. Two other co-conspirators (Jermaine Ballard, of York County, PA and Quincy Teel, of Coatesville, PA) were also arrested and have been charged with conspiracy, kidnapping and 1st degree murder. (All were later convicted of lesser charges in exchange for their testimony) Jason's sister, Sara McMann is one of only a handful of female's to participate in High School and Collegiate Wrestling and made the U.S. Olympic Team in 2000. Since joining the U.S. women's team, McMann has won National and International championships. Sara took the silver medal in Athens Greece at the 2004 Olympics. She was in a serious car accident upon returning to the U.S., her boyfriend, former Arizona State wrestler Steven Blackford was killed.
