Beverly A. "Rocky" Barnes of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away at his home on Friday, June 12, 2009.

He was born on March 19, 1950, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to Mr. Sumner H. Barnes and Mrs. Emma Jean Carter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Barnes.

"Rocky" was a graduate of Lane High School and was a member of the Elk's Lodge of Charlottesville. He was employed by Standard Drug Store as a manager for many years.

In addition to his parents, "Rocky" is survived by three sons, Tywon Henderson of Hollywood, Florida, and Marshall Williams and Troy Baker, both of Charlottesville; four daughters, Tonya Williams, Beverly Richardson, Latoria White and Shermeka Barnes, all of Charlottesville; one brother, Lawrence Virgil Washington; seven grand-children; a devoted God-child, Dominique Lewis; four devoted friends, Dan Anderson, Victor Witcher, Harry Frye and Roy Washington; three sisters-in-law; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service and celebration of life was held Thursday, June 18, 2009, in the Chapel of the J. F. Bell Funeral Home.



"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy." "Rocky" you will be greatly missed.
