Lester Clay Callantine, 71, of the Broadway Apartments, Aberdeen, died yesterday at the Veterans Hospital in Seattle after a long illness. He was born in Bozeman, Mont., and came to Aberdeen 45 years ago.

Callantine served in the U. S. Navy during World War I and he worked for the late Dan Mitchell for many years. When Mitchell retired, Mr. Callantine took over the shop and operated it until he retired in 1959.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the American Legion, all in Aberdeen.

Callantine is survived by his wife, Aileen, Aberdeen, and three brothers, Oran and Harley Callantine, both of Manhattan, Mont., and Oscar Callantine, Bozeman, Mont.

Memorial services will be held Thursday at 11 o'clock at the Acacia Funeral Home, Seattle. Cremation will precede the memorial service.
