MAXINE FOREST ALLEN: - September 23, 1995
Miss Maxine Forest Allen, 81, of Bonaventure Road in Greensboro died Sept. 16, 1995, at her residence.
A native of W. Virginia, she had lived most of her life in North Carolina. Maxine was very active in sports, bowling, tennis and basketball. She was inducted into the N.C. Sports Hall of Fame in 1963 and was the U.S. Champion Duck Pin Bowler. In 1963, the City of Greensboro honored her by having a Maxine Allen Day and the Mayor presented her with the Key to the City.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maude Starkey Allen and her father, Winter Allen. She is survived by several cousins.
There will be a graveside service 11 a.m. Monday at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham with Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel serving the family.
