Mr and Mrs. Frank Oshier of Waddington have received word that their son, PFC Lee Oshier has been killed in action on an island near Iwo Jima. He was a gunner with the Anti-Air Craft Artillery.

Pfc Oshier was born Oct 9, 1918, in Chesterville, Ont., the son of Stella Leland Oshier and Frank Oshier. He came to Waddington to live when he was 13. He was graduated from Waddington High School in June, 1937. After his graduation he was employed in Heverly's store and by the Aluminum Company of America.

He entered the service in January 1942 and was trained at Fort Eustis, Va; Quonset Point, R.I.; Fort Totten, NY; Camp Pickett, Va; Newport, R.I.; Camp Edwards, Mass; Suffolk, NY: Peekskill, NY' Camp Pendleton, Va; and Virginia Beach, Va. In January 1944 he married Miss Louise Lyas of Arlington Mass. In March 1944 he went overseas and participated in the invasions of Guam, Leyte and Okinawa.

Besides his wife and parents he is survived by the following sisters: Mrs. Virginia Purvis, Mrs. Kenneth Rand, Miss Rita Oshier and Miss Rose Oshier, all of Waddington and Mrs. Francis Dewey of Beaufort, SC and a brother, Cpl. Benson Oshier, who is stationed at Shephard Field, Tex.
