Samuel Berger, who since 1878 has made Kansas his home, died at his home nine miles northwest of Winfield at 9:30 p.m. Sunday. He had been in failing health for a number of years, the last two of which he had been an invalid.

Mr. Berger was born in Henry County, Indiana, Jan 7, 1843 and at the time of his death was 86 years, five months, and nine days old. For years he has made his home on the farm near this city and throughout his lifetime carried on the farming industry.

He is survived by the widow Mrs. Maggie Berger, two sons, J. M. Berger and Saltania, Kansas and Edward , at home; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer Troutman, Decatur, Ill., Mrs. Daisy Ray, Winfield, KS., and Sinnai, at home.

Funeral services will be held in the Methodist Episcopal church at 2:30. Burial will be made in the Udall Cemetery.
