COL Lund died in the Quang Nam ptovince of Vietnam in November 1966. Arnold Lund was a graduate of Flagstaff High School in 1937 and graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1941, where he was senior class president. Upon graduation, Lund was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Arnold Lund was a fighter pilot who served in World War II & Korea as well. He flew 80 missions in Korea and would be awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. At the time, COL Lund was the commander of MWHG-1 of the 1st Marine Air Wing and was up for promotion to Brigadier General. Arnold Lund was survived by his wife, Barbara, and his daughter Patricia.
