Actor. He was an American character actor who often was uncredited or appeared in minor roles, yet is credited with roles in at least 200 films and television appearances. He is best remembered for the uncredited role of the French officer insulting "Yvonne" in the classic 1942 film "Casablanca." In the 1970 film "Two Mules for Sister Sara," he had the supporting role of General LeClaire. Other films in which he had roles were "Suez" in 1938, "Gone With the Wind" in 1939, "Key Largo" and "The Three Musketeers" in 1948, "The Asphalt Jungle" in 1950, "To Catch a Thief" and "My Sister Eileen" both in 1955, "An Affair to Remember" in 1957, "This Earth is Mine" in 1959, "Chisum" in 1970 and "The Milagro Beanfield War" in 1988. He appeared in guest roles in one or two episodes of at least 60 different television productions, including "I Love Lucy," "Batman," "My Three Sons," and "Adam-12." He appeared in three episodes of "Dallas" and four episodes of "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis."
